Montgomery/Plainfield Intersection Improvement Project The City has been awarded funding for the improvement of the intersection of Plainfield and Montgomery Roads through the state's Local Transportation Improvement Program. The core scope of the project includes widens the intersection to provide a dedicated southbound turning and stacking lane. A streetscape element will be added assuming funding can be secured. The proposed streetscape would include new traffic signal mast arms, lighting, paver sidewalks, planters and seating. The streetscape would encompass the intersection and both sides of Plainfield Road for about half a block north of Montgomery Road. The total estimated cost of this project is $696,000. Additional funding sources include the Community Development Block Grant Program, the City of Silverton Road Fund, and the Hamilton County Municipal Road Aid Fund. The City plans to apply for a Transportation Enhancement grant through the Ohio Kentucky Indiana (OKI) Council of Governments. TE funding, if awarded, would be applied toward the streetscape aspect of the project. Engineering design will commence immediately with bidding in November. Construction is likely to begin in February 2008 and will last approximately four months.
