Code Enforcement
Property maintenance standards in the City of Silverton are governed by the International Property Maintenance Code.  The City employs a part time code enforcement officer to ensure that standards of the code are maintained.  Code violations should be reported to Code Enforcement Officer at (513) 936-6240.  Violations may also be reported via this website's Citizen Action Line. 

Zoning Review
The zoning code is intended to promote and protect public health, safety and general welfare through the establishment guidelines that govern land usage and general property maintenance.  New land developments, changes of use, or building construction (including additions or renovations) undergo zoning reivew in order to ascertain compliance with the code.  Extenuating circumstances may require that a hearing in front of the City's Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) or Planning Commission.  Examples of extenuating circumstances include, but are not limited to, variances, conditional use requests, or appeals of the zoning administrator's decision.  Exterior alterations to properties located within the Design Review District require the approval of the Design Review Board.  Copies of the zoning code are available at the Silverton Municipal Building, 6860 Plainfield Road, Silverton, OH  45236 or by clicking on the below icons.

Building Inspection
The City of Silverton contracts with the Hamilton County Building Department for its building inspection services.  Contact Hamilton County at (513) 946-4550 to obtain permit information or to request an inspection.  The building inspector reviews plans to ensure that they comply with the International Building Code.   The City strives to promote timely review of plans.  In order to enhance timeliness, the City requires that plans be submitted at least two weeks prior the planned commencement date.  Plans are reviewed in order of submission.  It is of utmost importance that plans be complete upon submission.  Overlooked details will cause a delay in permit issuance.  Requests for inspection during construction must be received 24 hours in advance.
